Observation

February 23rd, 2018

In the morning at 7.45 am the van already fetch us I the hotel and bring us to mam Aida canteen for breakfast, but on the first day we late so observation start from tomorrow. we are come to the office of integrated school to meet mam Agnes and then mam Agnes directing us to come into the classroom and she gives schedule teaching practice for us and then meets our supervisor. Here I attach my schedule actual teaching practice

My supervisor are Kimberly Inaldo and Wilbert Rosario, they teaching biology also earth and science. When first time i saw they I already know they are a good teacher, they are young, fresh and full of spirit. Mam Kimberly for grade 8 and Sir Wilbert for grade 9 and 10. Windy, Euis, Hanif and I have the same major Biology so our supervisor it's same. But Hanif has another supervisor because Hanif has scheduled to teach chemistry. After we know our supervisor we talk and sharing with them, Philippinos (Philippines people) really really have a good attitude, they really happy to meet us, really respect and glad to guide us to be a good teacher. Our supervisor gives us material and direct to make a lesson plan. They said in the first time teaching we apply lesson plan format from Indonesia and the next teaching is lesson plan format from the Philippines. After that,  we talk to each other, they said in the Philippines have many good places, Hundred Island is one of them and my supervisor said we must going there because it's really famous in the Philippines. After we talk and already knew the name of each other in the office, at 12 am we are going to Mam Aida canteen for lunch and then we go back to our hotel. at 7.00 pm me and my friend's dinner at the restaurant hotel, we ate as always fried chicken and some vegetables and then we start to make our lesson plan. Tomorrow we start our observation.

February 24th to 26th, 2018

The van comes earlier to fetch us in the hotel, at 7.10 am. Like yesterday we go to Mam Aida canteen for breakfast, we won't late so we ate breakfast quickly. After that, we go to PSU integrated school and start our observation. First class at 8.00 am we observed G-8 Granite, Mam Kimberly tell us to introduce to the student so we introduce our name and what university we come from in front of the class. After it, we watch how Mam Kimberly teaching. As long as I see, Mam Kim has a lesson plan so she not gets lost the material when she teaches. she follows the lesson plan also she searches another reference for the material. she gave the student videos to make student easily to understand the material. For the first time I saw the student, they are really cute and excited when we coming to their class they really respect us and humble. At 9.00 am we continue our observation to G-9 Makabayan, the class handled by Sir Wilbert, in the same way, we introduce and start to observe in the back of class. Sir Wilbert also has a lesson plan, he follows the instruction from the lesson plan and teaches so clearly in the class, the student nic too they keep quiet when teacher explaining. My supervisor are so awesome. After that we move into G-10, when I know we go to grade 10, me and friends guess that grade 10 have a different feel because in grade 10 the students around 16-17 years old which is the student become a teenager so they in labile period and they feel the greatest also like to try something new. So as I observed, grade 10 have a high level, we must have extra energy to control them because when Sir Wilbert explains the lesson some student, especially in the back, keeps talking with other friends and some student playing rubric or phone, they not give attention to the teacher and so crowded. I see Sir Wilbert try the best to control grade 10. For the next day we do the same schedule.

And my summary for the observation is I saw some student not wearing the uniform, some student wears it but not tidy and clearly. even I saw the boy student coming so late, 15 minutes before the lesson finish but he comes to the class like nothing happened and Mam Kim not angry, she allowed him to enter the class and tell him to take a seat. Also Yes, on the first day I have observed, education in Indonesia and Philippines is different. In Indonesia, every student must wear uniform mean there's no difference between a child from the rich or poor family. Except in the college, it depends on the college itself want using uniform or not. anIndonesianesia at my school if the student coming late even it just one minute, we not allowed to enter the class haha it's so frustrating when you late for the exam, right?? :D  BUT I am so proud because the student in the Philippines using English in the school. Although the English still have correction and mistakes they keep using it. I really want Indonesia to have the same education like that because I think grade 8 or 9 can't speak English because of the English subject just 2 hours for a week. Its make them not familiar with speaking English and make them shy to speak English in actual and when our grammar isn't correct and some perfectionist people will criticize it. English grammar is such a big deal in Indonesia so people don't have the confidence to speak English.
